I have collaborated on various programming projects, utilizing several languages.  I have extensive experience automating Microsoft Office programs using Visual Basic and .NET technologies.  As a system administrator, I have needed to create various complex scripts.  I have utilized my talents to modify existing systems, create new ones and extend/join dissimilar ones as well.

I have used my skills to modify and improve open-source programs such as WordPress and OS Commerce.

I am the only technician in Canada authorized to upgrade, maintain and repair SpeechCAT Voice Recognition Systems designed by The AudioScribe Corporation, Louisiana, USA.  SpeechCAT is a highly specialized software using cutting edge hardware to allow Court Reporters to use voice recognition to transcribe court proceedings.

When the CRAO needed some custom development on their website to recover from functionality failure, there was no question of whom to turn to.  An antiquated login/signup and conference registration system was replaced with newer, more easily customizable code — all while keeping the same look and feel as the rest of the site.

This upgrade allowed them to leverage their existing technology, yet overcome a hosting hurdle which broke some of their member management functionality – as you might have guessed, their site was not built or maintained by me until it failed.

I set up this easy to use online store for home / small business users to purchase and use their own custom domain names.  In the works is a full set of video tutorials on how to gain the most features and uses for domain names with the least amount of expenditure.  Also coming is a full-featured, easy to use web application for managing domain names and “personal domain names” (sub-domains and email features that you “rent” from a provider, like David.Touchette.com)

The CEO of a flourishing business wanted a website to increase sales and reach a wider audience.  Having but a GMail email address and no website to speak of, I implemented a complete domain name + email + site hosting + automated shopping cart system for them.  SEO and workflow automation were the natural compliment to this world-class shopping site.

I created this site as an ad campaign for technical support services.  It is a simple, static website based on a template – this is the basic kind of site you will find for free from most larger web hosting companies — it requires some knowledge of HTML and time to modify.  Compudude.ca was also granted a few extra special effects by way of jQuery and Lightbox libraries in addition to Google hosted chat, calendar and email.

The goal with this site was to create a simple, elegant and functional online store and product information site.  This was achieved using open source products and freely available site “themes”, thereby reducing the total cost of implementation.

This is not to say that it was a turn-key solution, however, this site was constructed quickly, and at a fraction of the cost of similar calibre sites.
